General information about the use of contact lenses

Bifocal Contact Lenses

People needing lenses for distance and near vision can get monovision lenses. This means you wear one contact lens for distance vision, and the other carrying a near vision prescription. This gives bifocal vision without using a bifocal contact lens. About 4 out of 5 people can get used to this.

But this can be uncomfortable. There are bifocal contact lenses easily available for distance and near vision just like our bifocal glasses.

Today bifocal lenses are easy to use, comfortable and quite inexpensive.

These lenses are available in gas permeable or soft lens designs. These however are expensive compared to the regular bifocal lenses.

There are disposable bifocal contact lenses made by Johnson and Johnson, and are priced fairly.
